Palm Beach Golf Course
|
Whether you enjoy the
peace and serenity of Pittwater with its surrounding National
Parks or the wave formation of the Pacific Ocean, Palm Beach
has it all. Stretching from Barrenjoey Lighthouse in the north,
to Careel Bay in the south, Palm Beach has a unique beauty.
Water sports dominate the area. Windsurfing, sailing, catamaraning,
bring your own equipment or hire from Palm Beach Watersports
located in Governor Phillip Park. In the park there are barbeque
facilities, a kiosk and a nine hole golf course.
The easiest
passage to the city is via a frequent bus service to Wynyard
taking one to one and a half hours. If your budget allows
there is the option of seaplane to Rose Bay, Gosford, Cronulla
or Port Stephens.
If you
are hungry, Palm Beach caters well for any appetite from coffee
and cake to fish and chips, a steak from the R.S.L. Club or
if you are after more sophisticated dining try La Palma, Beach
Road Cafe, the Boardwalk or Ancora.
Palm Beach
is also the backdrop for the successful television program
Home and Away. The show is filmed early in the day so there
is minimal or no disruption to the locals. Because of the
shows popularity, many overseas visitors visit the area to
see the town of "Summer Bay" and purchase souvenirs
from the local stores.
From Palm
Beach wharf it is a short ferry ride to lovely Coasters Retreat,
The Basin, Beach and Patonga.
One of
the most prominent landmarks in the area is the Barrenjoey
Lighthouse. Situated on top of the headland, Palm Beach is
without a doubt best appreciated from here. It is certainly
worth the steep walk to the top to inhale the breathtaking
beauty of the area. |
